Merdeka, Merdeka, Merdeka.

I wonder what went through Tunku Abdul Rahman’s mind on the historical day as he proclaimed our country’s independence.

Was he reflecting on the past struggles that they had to go through to achieve that glorious moment, or was he busy visualizing the future of this young country?

As a Malaysian citizen, do we dwell on the past mistakes of our leaders and speak of what-ifs, or do we take initiative to improve ourselves so that we can make better decisions for the future generation?

Or are we the sort who don’t give a damn, yet speak and criticize as if we know what’s happening just to join in the heated conversation?

Intellect and maturity does not depend on how much, how fast and how loud you speak.

It’s about knowing when to shut up, listen, think and act when you have to.

Happy Birthday, Malaysia.  You’re young, and so are we.  Give us some time to work things out, okay?
