Hi, people call me Vern, and I am mostly human with an incurable dependency on caffeine.
I’m an engineer by profession, and I have recently completed my postgraduate studies in sustainable energy systems in London, a city where I was lost, finding and found. It was there that I discovered my love for cooking, rock climbing and a heightened sense of wanderlust. I’m proudly, deeply rooted as a Malaysian, but occasionally you will find me ramble about the city that has forever changed me.
“We write to taste life twice,
in the moment and in retrospect.”
~ Anaïs Nin
I dabble in a lot of things but mostly, I love to write. I attribute my love for the written word to my mother who invested most of her hard-earned salary in books for me and my late uncle who showed me the magic and power of writing. Here, I write to understand – from the events that have unfolded in my life to the people I meet, using words to reconcile with the stills captured by my camera, but mostly with my own thoughts.
This blog has been my outlet for random musings for years – it’s a good starting point to give you a picture of who I am. I’m always out seeking new stories and meeting new people, so feel free to contact me – I assure you I’m pretty harmless.
Welcome, and enjoy your stay.
